Bob Slobig and Zoran Dragutinovich and have combined to rescue a client's business from the claims of its former landlord.
One of our clients in the automotive repair business filed for bankruptcy protection, because its former landlord had obtained a large judgment against the client for back rent. The six-figure exposure threatened to wipe out the client's business. Zoran Dragutinovich handled the client's successful appeal from the landlord's judgment, and the Illinois Appellate Court remanded the case for a new trial on the landlord's claim. The bankruptcy court actually conducted that trial, as a hearing on the client's objection to the landlord's claim. Bob Slobig successfully tried that case in January 2009, and the Chief Judge of the Bankruptcy Court ruled in our client's favor, wiping out the landlord's claim, and thus paving the way for the recovery of the client's business.
